Project Show HouseThe Pettit Designer Show HouseWhitehall Interiors & Home Staging was invited, along with 16 other interior design firms, to decorate a room in the historic Pettit House in Newton, New Jersey. The house was open to the public during the month of June 2008. All proceeds for the house tour benefited Project Self-Sufficiency, a Newton-based non-profit agency. We chose the first floor bathroom to convert into a space we call, "Nantucket Idyll". Bead board, soft yellow walls and white trim represent the traditional styling of a bathroom in a New England seaside home. We introduced black and white elements for a stark contrast, creating a space that is elegant, functional, and restrained in true New England fashion. The following "before" and "after" photos illustrate the dramatic transformation that the room underwent as we developed our concept for the space. A special thanks to Scot and Cheryl at Skylands Tile in Newton, NJ
for providing the floor tile for the bathroom.
